In March 2021, over 200 Colombian social organizations and the independent Permanent Peoples' Tribunal (PPT) convened the People's Tribunal on Political Genocide, Impunity, and Crimes against Peace. This extraordinary initiative emerged in 2019 as a response to the alarming resurgence of violence targeting signatories of the 2016 peace agreement and social leaders under the right-wing government of Iván Duque. Held alongside Colombia's official transitional justice process, the Special Jurisdiction for Peace and the Truth Commission, the tribunal became a powerful act of social resistance.

Drawing on extensive fieldwork, interviews, and research the book ¡Que pare el genocidio! reconstructs the PPT's ethical judgment: that a "continuous genocide" has been waged against movements striving  for peace, democracy, autonomy, and ecological harmony for more than 70 years. Through the voices of numerous organizers the tribunal is reconstructed as seen from the frontlines of social movements.

The book situates the PPT within the broader struggles for justice, democracy, and peace in Colombia. It explores key tensions between official transitional narratives of reconciliation and the tribunal's radical approach to social justice and the state's accountability. With reflections from human rights defenders Adriana Arboleda, Astrid Torres, and Alberto Yepes, the publication reveals the tribunal as a form of prefigurative justice – a political practice that does not wait for institutional permission to seek accountability. Instead it shows that these social movements envision and practice another justice system already, thus highlighting that another state and another society is possible.
